Ride alone??

Last Saturday, 2 days before Hari Raya Haji, i was so 'addict' to burst out my energy due to my long day at home. Actually, a day before i was paned to went offroad with the usual guys but unfortunately, most people by then already went back to hometown for the festive. That day the weather was so cloudy and dull. For me its a perfect weather to get physical. So, around 5 pm in the evening, i put my gear up and i headed out to my hometown, Seri gombak...It seem near but i scared of the traffic. From melawati, i paddled passes the Melati bistro's and up to the fly over. There i rode along the old corrigated pavement, it better than on the busy road itself. In front of the 'old Project' there's no pavent and i had to rode along the busy MRR2 facing the incoming traffic. Ride along the highway, i highly recommend to wear eyewear/shade to protect your eyes from the dust and sand fly by.

The scariest part was to across the MRR2 traffic from Gombak to Gombak tol. i had to set the gear right and position the bike facing the traffic to cross. About a kilometer to reach i was glad that i acommplished my misson to Seri Gombak. i had my break and had a cup of tea at Tok Li Restaurant. Around, 6:45pm where the day nearly became night, i started push back to Melawati with the same route. It took me about 30 min to reach back, it seems near but still scary. For me, i can tell you that, offroad track so much safer that the main road.

the route Tmn Melawati >tmn Melati> Shell>Petronas>Seri gombak.

Putrajaya Nite ride - 28 Nov 08

Last Friday nite, the ever weekend ride event, Critical Mass, for those who did not come across of this event, its not the about world war, terrorism, or political gathering. Critical Mass is a monthly mass bike ride promoting cycling as a fun and healthy alternative to driving. Critical Mass rides occur on the last friday of every month in over 200 cities worldwide. That nite there was nearly 100 bicycles, mean from the small kiddie to the old school single speed bicycle. there no limit on age or status.

It nearly cancel due to rain down pour all over Klang Valley that evening, but at last minutes, the organizer confirm, putrajaya area already cleared from rain. It started from Restoran Darussalam Presint 9 (Mamak Double Trouble), where rides gathered and push up the paddle slowly to Putrajaya Mosque. Me, was so late due to mass traffic jammed to reach the starting venue in time. So i, started at the from the mosque and paddle like mad to catch up the crowd. On the way , Zul and Aze waited for me to ensure i'm not out of the route. We met up at the Tmn Putra Perdana huge roundabout and ride along the highway to Putrajaya International Convention Centre(PICC).

That road was long and there some ups and downs, but still not a hardcore route. Once we reach the PICC, the crowd gathered and have a quick recharge. From the PICC, the route and view was spectacular, where we cycle down through the Government Boulevard. It was like festival of lights at all the building over there. At the end of the Government Boulevard, the crowd made a left turn to Presint 9. That the end of my journey and the rest carried on to Presint 9. The ride end just about 12am midnight. It was very pleasant ride where most people can do it. The weather was good little bit windy and cool. Just ride it. 20 km was nothing.

FRIM ride - 20 Nov

This ride was like same other ride at FRIM, but this time, Kiddrock and new comer, Shawal join as well. As usual we start off from the outside parking lot about 930am. At the very moment, there was also a new member, Abo, bravely open his mouth and join us that morning ride. We took off about 10am and ride tru the heart of the FRIM preserved forest via FRIM trail. Just about the middle of the trail we stop and had a quick break to recharge the energy.

There we actually start to get know each other and embrace the new rides. Abo's Santa cruz chameleon was the hard tail hotty that morning. He sure spent a lot of cash on his bike. From there we ride again continuied to the top and to the end of FRIM trail. We stop to gather back and from there, we paddled to Sg Buloh trail, well, we stop until the huge open space area ( beginning of the Steroid Hill). Because of Shawal need to went back before 12 noon, we decided to return back to the parking lot. On the way we made a detour where we circle around the FRIM via off road track. We found out there is a single track near the main road. It was fun, just rolled down and no hike up.

The offroad was so wet and our bike was so dirty. We made in parking lot in time and Abo offer us to wash up the bikes at the brother's house nearby. We spent quit a time at the house to embrace his bike collection. From the XC hard tail, DJ, to DH ride, he got it all. Thank Abo for his hospitality, hope we all can ride together some time.

FRiM -steroid hill 6 Nov 08

This is time we up back to the FRIM trail once more. I personally love this place, it was so cool, lots of tree's shades, fresh air and amenitties, eventhough we have to pay rm1 each person to enter. The place maintain clean and security by FRIM where you can cycle, hiking, picnic without fear.

That morning, we as usual pack up and start paddled from the guardhouse. This time the destination is 'Steroid Hill'. This 'Steroid Hill' named by the mtb bikers hence the name, you need a steroid to climb up all the way. This is my first time to try out the 'Steroid Hill' and along the way via FRIM trail to Sg Buloh, i imagine how steep the hill is. We made a first stop at the bottom of the hill and i can see the pain i had to suffer after this. After the break we climb up slowy and became very slow with the lowest gear. I surrendered myself and push up half way, but not Razlan and Aze. They truely like on steroid. It was very satisfying when we all reach the top of the 'Steroid Hill' .The cool breeze from the higher ground's wind certainly felt at the face. Actually there is a other peak to continue with, which is 'Salem Hill'. We was too tired to blast up, so decided to stroll down back to FRIM trail after our break.

From the FRIM trail we made little detour lead by Aze, tru narrow track and finished at the main road at the Malay Tea House. We decided to pampared ourselves by enjoying a special tea home/local made at Malay Tea house. I had a cold rossle tea, Aze had hot mengkudu tea, Razlan had hot lime/lemongrass tea. This place made like you enjoying you tea at kampung. After that we made our move to Sg Kroh where we clean up our bikes after our 'muddy fest' at 'Steroid Hill'. About 1pm we pack our bike onto the car and head home.

My sweet Kiara 29 Oct 08

It been a while we didnt ride here at kiara Hill where a month before there a lot of Raya open houses to attend, well actually a month before that we, Muslims carried out our 'fasting' for a month. Thats mean 2 months, we been resting and eating religiously. So this time we started at the same car park at 930am and took a normal road to the Resting hut, which half way up to the hill. I paddle up half way and try to catch up Aze who paddle up all the way. From the resting hut, after have a break, we have push up the bike and there part of the trail we paddle up..eventually we reach at the top within 30 min. At the top of kiara Hill you can see some of the Damansara's town, Mostly this huge torny grass seen at the top, feel like 'Bukit Botak' ...

We rest and had a break at the starting point of the Kiara Downhill Domination track. It quit small area, imagine 80 people have to cramp over there during the competition. Then, we rolled down trailed same as the KDD track and found out there is some new twist along the track. At the end of the bunian trail, we found a new trail where believe it was for the new incoming MTB Carnival this november. The track a bit hard where there is some points you cant paddle, well you have lift up your bike. The exit is same with KDD track, at the car park zone.It been a while and seen the track seldom been used lately, maybe because of the fasting month and the raya open house month or the regular rider training at the Bukit Jalil for KLD recently..Anyway, it will be happening again where next and final KDD on the way.

FRIM's ride during Deppavali day

On the day where the Indian celebrate Deppavali and the Muslims still busy to prepare last open houses. Me and Fadhil decided to pack our bike and headed to the infamous mtbbike trail, FRIM. That morning about 10 am, we arrived at the outside FRIM's guard house parking lot and quickly assemble our bike. It was a first FRIM ride fo Fadhil and for me to make sure the first is the most memorable. From the guardhouse, we took a start point of FRIM trail and paddle up to the hill until we reach the Dream trail.

We took a break before entering the Dream trail. Dream trail was like a playground for the mtb bikers, it has a lot of twisted track, some switchbacks, nature humps and big rocks. Like last ride along the dream trail there will be some dogs barking at us, alarming the bikers because entering their territory. But this time, no dogs. At the end of the Dream trail, unfortunately, i stumbled a big black cobra. Luckly i manage to spot it before i rammed onto it. Very scary indeed. After the snake scare, we continued along the FRIM trail across the waterfall and went back to main road. From the we cycled straight to Sg Kroh picnic area where we have a wonderful fresh air and water to refresh ourselves. After we wash up our bike, we stroll back to our car and packed home.

KLD 2008 - Kuala Lumpur Downtown 2008

Organized by KSH Bicycle , it was the first time Tarmac downhill scene that Kuala Lumpur Downtown 2008 hit the streets of Kuala Lumpur. This time around, this downhill event was going to be bigger and better, and held at the newly open area at National Sports Complex. New this year to the event was the addition of the freestyle show off, and with a big cash bursary and tonnes of prizes to win, Kuala Lumpur Downtown 2008 attracted many top riders from across Malaysia and even riders as far as Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

Bukit Jalil was hot...real hot on that weekend ... probably as hot as we've ever felt it. 40 degree Celsius without the wind-chill, it was definitely the best weather to have event on. The event was started at the top of the Commenwealth hill which actually open for the jogger only. But the whole park had been rearranged for the competition and new stuff had been built. The event organizers had obviously worked very hard to built 20 foot gap launcer and receiver for the competition. During race day, riders were pulling some big air off to amazed the crowd. It was awesome to see the amount of people that came to see the competition and it made it all that much better to have the loud crowd pumping the riders to go bigger. The main attaction of that day was a special skill appearance of professional downhill mountain biker, World Cup champion in 2002, 2004 and 2006, Steve Peat and Down hill/freeride champion Cedric Garcia.

Radical Freeride representative, Kidd had a bad luck where his tyre lost its pressure at the end of the course. Resulting, his best time effected and cant managed to fit in the best 30 of his class. It was completely amazed at the amount of awesome riding that went on during the weekend. Kuala Lumpur Downtown 2008 had definitely been a huge success and a very well organized
